3. Google rocked by monopoly ruling
A big day against Google and an even bigger ruling. This week a judge ruled against the search engine giant over claims that it has held an illegal monopoly over the internet for many years. Specifically, the way people search and find information across the many devices now available for people to use. Google particularly has enforced ‘restrictive’ contracts over the years that in essence are always meant to make sure Google is the default search engine [in this case for example Apple devices.]
According to the New York Times, US District Judge Amit Mehta hasn’t decided how the company will be punished for maintaining the unlawful monopoly however a previous similar case against Microsoft as noted by the Times may give some clearer picture as to where this case is headed. In that case, Microsoft was found to have held a monopoly over its competitors when it came to its Windows computers [think: Netscape.]
4. Hamas has a new leader and it is the man responsible for the October attack on Israel.
Yahya Sinwar is back on top in Gaza despite being on Israel ‘s kill list. The October-foe was named the leader of Hamas following the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Iran.
