Polls are officially open in Venezuela and the opposition has posed a serious threat to the decades-long rule of Nicholas Maduro.

More than 21m registered voters have taken to the polls in hopes of undoing the United Socialist Party ‘s 25-year iron fist rule in the country. Polls are set to close tonight at 6pm local time though it is unclear how the race will go. Maduro has repeatedly warned of a bloodbath if he loses the election.
