An unidentified man is the latest patient to be totally cured of HIV according to health experts and researchers. The man is understood to have stopped taking his medications in twenty-eighteen and has been cured ever since.

But according to AFP it unlike others is an instance of a stem cell transplant that provided him the opportunity to have a new immune system. While the procedure to do so exists, it is currently out of reach for many particularly those in the United States due to the obscene costs of healthcare in the country apart from being a very rare occurrence. This particular case is in Germany.
According to the fascinating story, the anonymous man in his 60s was treated back in October 15 for acute myeloid leukemia. As part of that treatment, he received a stem cell transplant that has since as it stands cured him of HIV.
