Scientists and health experts are sounding the alarm this week over fears of the zombie deer disease. According to information about the disease, it is 100% fatal with no known cure or vaccine at this time.
The Lowdown
The disease first came into the spotlight last year after Yellowstone National Park confirmed the first such case. At the time, officials found a deer carcass in the park that tested positive for the disease. Formally, the disease is known as chronic wasting disease.
Cases of the disease have since been reported in at least 33 U.S. states; Norway, and South Korea. Scientists told KFF News, that there is a chance the disease could spill over to humans.
