Apple ‘s iMessage has escaped scrutiny from the EU will not have to open up messaging app to the rest of the world

Despite scrutiny, Apple has emerged victorious in its efforts to stop the European Union from imposing new obligations on the company including some of the services in which it offers.

The Lowdown

“Following a thorough assessment of all arguments, taking into account input by relevant stakeholders, and after hearing the Digital Markets Advisory Committee, the Commission found that iMessage, Bing, Edge and Microsoft Advertising do not qualify as gatekeeper services,” the EU’s press release reads.
