NHS officials are scrambling this week to reverse a huge blunder involving over 65s who had recently gotten their usual flu jabs. According to the government, somewhere along the line, a small group of people received a less effective standard egg culture influenza vaccine (QIVe), which is known to be less effective as a whole. People who got this jab will be offered a new opportunity to get the correct vaccine though how this happened remains under investigation.

Officials typically don’t recommend this for this age group due to its lack of strong protections.
