Nike is the latest company to suspend its relationship with Kyrie Irving over a controversial film (we’re not going to repeat the name of it here) and his anti-Semitic like tweets and other stuff. According to a statement released to CNN, the brand also will not release his upcoming shoe.
“At Nike, we believe there is no place for hate speech and we condemn any form of antisemitism,” the statement says. “To that end, we’ve made the decision to suspend our relationship with Kyrie Irving effective immediately and will no longer launch the Kyrie 8. We are deeply saddened and disappointed by the situation and its impact on everyone.”
Without going into to much detail, the film in question co-signs a conspiracy theory worth a thousand minutes. It falsely claims the Holocaust didn’t happen; contains numerous anti-Jewish tropes, and just is an all around bad film. Critics are calling on Amazon to pull it but it remains up as of this time.
