Ally McBeal is getting a sequel and this time it is poised to have a Black lead

Ally McBeal is coming back but this time it is set under a different premise. According to Deadline Hollywood, the 90 ‘s legal show is coming back with a Black lead thanks to an early production over at ABC. The site reports that instead of following its infamous character Calista Flockheart it’ll instead follow a young Black lead who joins Cage and Fish fresh out of law school. No date has been set for the release however.

The woman is believed to be the daughter of Ally’s D.A. roommate Renée Raddick (Lisa Nicole Carson) from the original series, per Deadline.
