Burrito chain Chipotle is making headlines this week amid reports that the company is unfairly trying to infringe on the rights of workers attempting to unionize a store. According to reports, a Chipotle stop in Maine is making headlines over the fact that it was permanently closed by Chipotle just two hours before a union vote was set to take place.

In response to controversy over the decision (made by Chipotle itself), the company maintained in a statement that the store allegedly wasn’t performing very well.

“We have been unable to adequately staff this remote restaurant with crew,” a company statement said, “and continue to be plagued with excessive call-outs and lack of availability from existing staff.” Recruiting managers also has been difficult, the statement said
