Amid reports of a full scale invasion underway in Ukraine officials in Germany have severed ties with the reported Nord Stream 2 pipeline that would’ve provided Russia billions in revenue over the course of the foreseeable future. Media reports in Berlin note that Chancellor Olaf Scholz reaffirmed that Russia must see consequences for their illegal and unlawful actions in Ukraine.

“Now it’s up to the international community to react to this one-sided, incomprehensible and unjustified action by the Russian president,” he told reporters in Berlin, adding that he intended to “send a clear signal to Moscow that such actions won’t remain without consequences.”
