One of them coming out of the massive 50,000 person strong Anime NYC convention that recently took place while the others have reportedly been scattered around the boroughs. According to Governor Kathy Hochul ‘s office, the Big Apple now has 5 cases of the mysterious variant with almost more if not dozens more expected as the convention performs its contact tracing efforts.
‘New York State has confirmed five cases of the omicron variant,’ Governor Kathy Hochul said in a statement. ‘Let me be clear: This is not cause for alarm. We knew this variant was coming and we have the tools to stop the spread.’
The discovery has prompted the realisation that the variant has long been in America and has been circulating for at least 10 or more days.
