Barbados (yes the home of Queen Rihanna) is set to abolish the monarchy within its borders for the first time. Next month, then Governor-General Sandra Mason is poised to take office as its first ever elected President formally ending the idea of Queen Elizabeth II.

Mason ‘s ascension to the Presidency marks the first time since 1992 that the Queen has lost a realm. During that time Mauritius  was the country that dumped the monarchy in favour of a modern Democracy.
