Mars is a world that might be more obvious than some may realize. A new study published this week appears to suggest that Mars may have recently been habitable lending credence to the idea that it is only a matter of time before signs of life are found.

If Mars is in fact volcanic that would mean that it would probably recently have been in some way habitable. Signs that Mars would have been recently habitable almost inevitably would raise the question: is it still?

According to Space.com, a new study published appears to have detected that a recent volcanic action took place on the rogue planet that seems to evade much of mankind’s common understanding.

“This being the youngest documented volcanic eruption on Mars, the potential that Mars could potentially be volcanically active at present is exciting,” study lead author David Horvath, a planetary scientist now at the Planetary Science Institute in Tucson, Arizona, told Space.com.
