Netflix Inc has had a wildly successful year but this time part of that year may come crashing down. For those that haven’t seen it — Outer Banks is a popular Netflix show about a group of rag-tag teenagers that eventually stumble across a reported treasure. The story aptly takes place along what is known the “Outer Banks” of North Carolina.

Wooten is demanding damages and a title credit in the episodes indicating that the story is based on his novel series.

The problem is there is now an author who says Netflix appears to have lifted the entire storyline from his popular self-published series that was previously available online. That author has reportedly been identified as K.W. Wooten — the author of the series now known to be Pennywise: The Hunt For Blackbeard ‘s Treasure.

The shows co-creators Jonah and Josh previously allegedly acknowledged that they had gotten the idea for the story in Wilmington — the same place where the story itself was actually written according to TMZ.
