A proposed bill would give qualifying Americans $2k a month until the pandemic is over

But many are asking where that money would actually go considering the IRS largely couldn’t even get a chunk of the first payments into the correct accounts to begin with. On Friday, it was revealed that a 2nd stimulus bill is being proposed that would see qualifying Americans over the age of 16 receive monthly payments until said pandemic is over.

Proposed as the Emergency Money for the People Act, the bill would guarantee such payments for at least 6 months and then on until the pandemic is over. Many are wondering, however, why is it so difficult for the government to give money to its people but they give consistent billions worth of breaks to the mega-rich.

“A one-time, twelve hundred dollar check isn’t going to cut it,” said Rep. Ro Khanna. “Americans need sustained cash infusions for the duration of this crisis in order to come out on the other side alive, healthy, and ready to get back to work.”
