PHILLY — Stunning news in Philly today as Theophalis Wilson has walked free from prison for a crime it is widely believed he didn’t commit. According to the Department of Corrections, Wilson was released following a 28-year-sentence for an alleged triple murder case that was marred by injustice.

That case dated back clear into Wilson ‘s teenage years when he was accused in part for the murders of Otis Reynolds and brothers Kevin and Gavin Anderson in north Philadelphia in 1989.

From the beginning, it has been argued that prosecutors used racial undertones; false evidence and false testimony to convict Wilson for what they said was his part in the crime. From what we understand, a man testified beginning in 2013 but later recanted his story against Wilson. The man did so because prosecutors allegedly offered him a chance to be spared the death penalty in exchange for helping them with the conviction.
