Chicago police deny that Jussie Smollett ‘s attack was a hoax

Despite several elements of the case being problematic, and, downright questionable (no shade!).   According to the Hollywood Reporter, authorities made a statement last night confirming that as of this writing, they, had no reason to believe that Smollett ‘s attack was a hoax or staged.  The statement came after it emerged that two men who apparently worked on set of Empire, had, been questioned and detained over the attack.

ABC Chicago led the charge on Thursday with claims that the attack had been staged, claiming, that the two men who “assaulted” Smollett were upset that his character was being written out of Empire.

“Multiple sources tell @ABC7Chicago Eyewitness News Jussie Smollet [sic] and the 2 men who are being questioned by police staged the attack – allegedly because his character was being written out of the show Empire,” the network’s reporter Rob Elgas tweeted.

However, 20th Century Fox confirmed in its own statement that that theory just isn’t impossible — because Smollett isn’t going anywhere.
