There’s an interesting story brewing in international headlines.  An ex-Google employee has come forth with damning allegations that China is preparing to breach the right to privacy more than ever before. The employee, uh, claims that the Chinese government is building a search engine known as “Dragonfly”.
“Dragonfly” is believed to be the first-of-its kind search engine that would allow government officials to literally track and organize web traffic; content, and information — essentially spying on citizens at all times. It’s also worth noting that the new search engine would identify people by their phone numbers, and, collect almost every possible kind of information about a user.
Jack Paulson, the former Google employee, reportedly resigned last month amid reports and meetings within Google that cleared the way for the controversial project. According to what we’ve learned, the project, would be implemented by Chinese watch-dogs sometime within the next two years.
It is widely believed that Google took a hefty payment from the Chinese government to take part in this project.
Paulson, in multiple news reports, also indicated that the new search engine would indefinitely censor certain phrases and words.  It’s also interesting that the Chinese government allegedly wants to censor the terms “human rights”; “protest”, “student protests”, and anything to do with air quality and pretty much the outside world.
