According to Bashar Al-Assad there is no proper option in Syrian’s civil war other than victory because the government “could not reach agreements with opposition groups as intended in the recent peace talks”.
In terms of Assad, this was hinted as the reason why he decided to launch chemical gas attacks at an airport held by opposition groups. The chemical attacks were the trigger of the declaration of war by the United States.
