An announcement that was made by the fast-food chain after minimum wage hikes in a number of U.S States (this is no joke, people). The San Francisco Chronicle reports that in many states, notably California and New York, self-serve kiosks aren’t far off into the future. Why? Because of the recent regulations that require minimum wage to be $15 in states like those.
The Chronicle notes that Wendy’s is “watching” the wage hikes across the country and self-serve kiosks are expected in ALL of Wendy’s restaurants by the end of the year. Mobile ordering and mobile payment systems are also up on the table for Wendy’s, who, practically intends to wipe out its human staff all together.
No, really.
