Against an election year and a plot twist, President Biden has announced executive action on immigration set to take effect tonight as the ‘border crisis’ continues to be a talking point in the election.

The Lowdown

According to the White House, a new piece of executive action on immigration to help curb the flow of people looking for a better life at the southern border. The flows of course have caused controversy after a number of incidents exposed less-than-stellar people getting across the border. CNN reports that the action has been described as ‘going too far.’ Migrants must meet a list of exemptions in order to process through the asylum setup if they’ve crossed illegally.

In the plan, which again takes effect at midnight, those who do not follow the rules and cross into the United States illegally will be stripped of their right to file or claim asylum.
