New anti-theft feature coming to Android operating system

In an effort to combat rising phone theft the Android operating system is getting a big update. According to reports, the new update will bring the ability for the phone to lock itself it in turn is stolen.

The Lowdown

According to an announcement from Google, the upcoming operating system version will feature something called Theft Detection Lock. Mobile phone theft is a growing threat in many parts of the world particularly places like the United States. The announcement notes that the future update is AI-powered. As a feature, it is meant for those brief few seconds during the onset of having a mobile phone stolen when it may still be unlocked.
